Hôpital civil Marie Curie

In December 2000, during the first meeting of the ISPPC (l’intercommunale de santé publique du pays de Charleroi), it was decided to build a new and ultramodern hospital. This decision was fully realised in 2014. Situated in Lodelinsart and offering 600 beds and a day care clinic, L’hôpital civil Marie Curie proudly opened in October 2014.

On the one hand, the architecture of the new building was inspired by medical functionality and access to advanced technology. On the other hand, the concept paid attention to the comfort and well-being of patients. Accessibility played an important role as well. The site in Lodelinsart is situated at the Chaussée de Bruxelles, near both the A54 and the city centre. There is also an underground railway connection. The new hospital will replace the old Hôpital Civil. Next to the Hôpital Vésale, it will be the second pillar of the university hospital in Charleroi. The move from the old to the new Marie Curie site took 10 days, during which almost 1,200 people did their bit.

The Walloon quality newspaper Le Soir, among others, ran a feature on this large-scale project, in which the Haelvoet products got a nice place in the flashlights. Click here to read the complete article.
